Trades, working together
The Home Services Trade Alliance is a team of Durham Region trade businesses, one per trade, who send work to each other and to homeowners. Here’s why we started it, and where it’s going.
Why we started
Good partners are hard to find. Every contractor knows the feeling: you need an electrician, a plumber or a roofer you can count on, and you end up making calls, crossing your fingers and hoping they show up and do it right. Your name is on the job either way.
Relationships are how a trade company grows. The best work comes from people who know you, trust you and send customers your way. But building those relationships one by one takes years.
It’s also a tough, competitive industry. On your own, staying busy year-round is hard. Some months there’s more work than you can handle, and some months the phone goes quiet.
Together, a lot of that gets easier. When trades feed each other work, share what they know and help each other out, one network solves several problems at once: steadier work, partners you trust, and homeowners who get looked after properly from start to finish.
Our vision
We want the Alliance to be the face of the trade industry in Durham Region: the name homeowners think of first when something needs doing, and a network people can really trust.
When people in Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax or anywhere in Durham need a pro, the Alliance is where they start.
Homeowners remember one name instead of scrolling through dozens of ads and reviews.
Every member is vetted, licensed, insured and WSIB covered, and keeps their seat by doing good work.
Fast call-backs, clear quotes and respect for each other’s customers. The standard we hold ourselves to raises the bar for the whole industry.
For homeowners
Tell us what you need and the member who holds that trade’s seat gets your request directly. There’s no bidding war and no list of strangers, just the one business we trust for that job. It’s free.
For trades
Each trade has one seat. The member who holds it gets every homeowner request for their trade, plus referrals from the rest of the Board. Membership is free. You keep the seat by calling back within a day, treating other members’ customers like your own, and keeping your licence, insurance and WSIB current.
The Board so far
2 of 36 seats are filled, and more trades are joining every week. Members: Ramsauer Renovations (General Contracting & Renovations), Smith And Sons Painting (Painting).
